HOWARD COMMUNITY COLLEGE AWARDS
THE RENOVATION OF THE JAMES CLARK, JR. LIBRARY BUILDING
TO ATLANTIC BUILDERS GROUP, INC.

Howard Community College located in Columbia, MD has awarded the Construction Management-at-Risk renovation of the James Clark Jr. Library Building to Atlantic Builders Group, Inc. The $15 million project will update many of the 36 year old facility's building systems and equipment including HVAC, electrical, lighting, telecommunications, ADA accessibility, security, restrooms and elevators.

The scope of work will include space recently vacated by the move to the new Student Services Building, expand the science and technology disciplines, improve the library functions, and consolidate instructional and administrative areas.

These improvements will also address all legal, safety, and health issues required of modern institutional facilities and assure compliance with all pertinent state, federal, and local regulatory standards.

The multi-phased project started immediately upon the June 2008 approval of the Board of Public Works and the last phase of the work will be ready for the start of the spring semester, 2010.
