RECEIVES MERIT AWARD FROM ABC
FOR EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION
WASHINGTON,
DC Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has presented
Atlantic Builders Group of Baltimore, Maryland, with a Merit
Award in its Excellence in Construction (EIC) competition
for the company's work on the Abingdon Branch of the Harford
County Public Library in Abingdon, Maryland. The awards were
presented at ABC's 2006 National Convention in Las Vegas.
Atlantic
Builders Group was recognized in the Institutional - under
$5 Million category for its work on the Library. The project
involved the construction of a 36,000 SF single story library
facility on a 16 acre site.
"This
project clearly illustrates the excellent work merit contractors
do everyday," said Jack Darnall, 2006 ABC national chairman
and a vice president/healthcare division manager for Brasfield
& Gorrie, Birmingham, Ala. "Each year, ABC's Excellence in
Construction awards highlight the country's top construction
projects, and I'm pleased to include this project in that
prestigious group."
ABC's
awards program is designed to recognize publicly the quality
and innovation of merit shop construction and to honor all
the members of the construction team, including the contractor,
the owner and the design team responsible for the project.
The winning projects were selected from more than 300 entries
submitted from across the country and were judged on complexity,
attractiveness, unusual challenges, completion time, workmanship,
